School History
In June 1880 a request was made to the Under Secretary of Education for a school to be established at Middle Ridge. A building
committee was formed at a public meeting on 5th August, 1882. On 3rd October 1882 an application for the establishment of a
State School at Middle Ridge was made. On 27th February, 1883 the committee secretary was advised that approval for
the establishment of this school had been approved. This approval was gazetted on 20th September 1883.
The school at Middle Ridge was opened on 23rd May, 1884, and the first students were admitted on Tuesday, 27th May, 1884. The first Principal of Middle Ridge State School was Mr Frederick William Dunsdon. Middle Ridge State School has continued to grow steadily since it's inception. It commenced with 71 students and today has a total student population of 615.
Middle Ridge State School is a well established
school and the architecture of the school is relatively modern. Buildings are 10/15 years old with the oldest building being 20 years old,
and we have 3 brand new buildings. The school is well maintained and has expansive grounds, swimming pool, large oval and tennis court.
