Salvation Army Concert - 20 October
The concert was held in H Block this morning. We're sure that all concerned would have found it an enjoyable experience. Thank you to all of the
musicians who spent extra time and rehearsals preparing their band and individual items. We are very proud of their efforts! Keep up the good work
in preparation for the Musical Evening next month.
Year 7 Sydney- Canberra Trip - 17 October
On Saturday, 17 October, our Year 7's returned from a fantastic week long trip to Canberra and Sydney. Along the way they visted Parliament House, Yarralumla, Telstra Tower, Questacon Science Centre, the Australian War Memorial and the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. In Sydney they visited historical displays on convict life in Old Sydney and Taronga Park Zoo. To see some more of the fun check out the Year 7 Trip Photo Page.
Year 4D Museum - 17 September
On Thursday 17 September, Year 4D created a museum in their classroom to show what they had learnt this term about the history of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs. Students set up photo displays, samples of their own work, artefacts from the old days, timelines and Powerpoint displays on their computers. Refreshments were provided for parents and staff and each class member took on a role either as tour guide, an assistant with a display or as a caterer. Well done 4D. What a great way to learn!

Triennial School Review Completed - 15 September
Verification of the school's Triennial School Review took place last week with staff, students and a representative of District Office. This process went very well, thanks to the staff and students for their efforts on the panel and during the Diagnostic Inventory.

Child Protection Week Pantomime - 8 September
On Tuesday 8 September, our students in Years 1-3 visited the St Saviour's Hall to view a Child Protection Week pantomime. Actors in the pantomime were local police and support workers. Children from grades 1 ,2 and 3 learnt about feeling safe and staying safe in a fun and interesting way. Early warning signs of feeling unsafe were discussed with the children. Students were encouraged to discuss such feelings with one of five trusted adults on their Safety Hand.
National Reading Day Dress-Up - 2 September
To celebrate National Reading Day,
2nd September, students were encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character.
It is obvious Middle Ridge has many readers amongst their students as the characters they
portrayed were many and varied, with all showing great attention to detail. The dress-up was one of
the school's National Literacy and Numeracy Week
activities.
Opti-Minds - 30 August
The Regional Event was held on Sunday, 30 August, at UQ Gatton. During the Opti-MINDS Challenge the students had to Opti-MISE their thinking for Opti-MUM performance! All teams displayed the Spirit of Opti-Minds and participated well. Teachers and parents were so proud of these amazing students.

Congratulations to all students for their commitment and sustainability in reaching their goal. They have been on an exciting and challenging journey for the past 7 weeks. It has been a pleasure working with them during this time where they have showcased their talents and skills and learnt real life skills: problem solving, teamwork, time management, budget control, communication techniques, self discipline and responsibility.
Lap-a-Thon - 14 August
Let's Get Physical week ended on a real high last Friday with the running of the Lap-a-thon. Students, teachers and
some parents were active between the hours of 9.00am-3.00pm jogging and walking around the oval. What a great
effort! -6,247 laps in 6 hours with a total distance covered of 1,561km's. AN EFFORT LIKE THAT IS WORTH
SPONSORING. Please return sponsorship forms and money to the school office no later than Friday, 21st
August. Money raised is to be used to purchase sporting gear and classroom consumables.
Year 6 Chinese Excursion - 12 June
Every year our school conducts a Chinese culture excursion to the Chung Tian Temple and Brisbane Chinatown for all Year Six students who study Chinese. The trip is an important part of the Chinese curriculum. It provides students with
first-hand experience of Chinese culture, enhances their awareness of cultural diversity, and contributes to intercultural understanding and tolerance.
On Wednesday, 20th of May, we took nearly all eighty Year Six students to Chung Tian Temple and Chinatown. It was a lovely sunny day, and we all had a wonderful time experiencing something new on the excursion.
125th Cake Cutting - 27 May
Wednesday 27th May 2009 saw the 125th anniversary of our school. The day was commemorated with a student dress-up in old time clothing and a special parade. Past pupils attended and recounted their days at our school. The ceremony concluded with a cake cutting.
